#148 DIY Light Shades

Remember me? Finally back up & running after a ridiculous stretch of computer problems.
Whoever it is out there with a little voodoo collection consisting of the majority of my electrics?
Thanks for easing up.
I have certainly realised that a back up plan is required! In the meantime I will be keeping my fingers crossed that I've used up all my technological bad luck for a long long time...

Lets get back to the good stuff shall we!?

These fabulous rustic chic light shades are via a very easy to follow diy tutorial on Project Wedding.
Even though I didn't get around to making these before our wedding I will definitely still see they turn out & if I am happy with the result, hopefully I can convince one of my lovely brides to let me work them into their big day! I'm also interested to see how they could be adapted to be a candle/tea light candle holder.

Speaking of tea light candles, here's a few that would look gorgeous as decor for a rustic event or as features for an event with neutral tones.

I adore silver birch & actually, just any kind of birch really? It brings such a stunning aesthetic to both event decor & home interiors without being overbearing.

It's good to be back!

#139 Sublime Sunday Suppers

I have just discovered Sunday Suppers & boy, have I fallen hard.
This blog seriously blows my mind & I so wish I was in New York so I could go along!
Sunday Suppers are classes taught by local chefs in Brooklyn, where you cook & then dine together. The food is market fresh (look at the pictures, you can certainly tell!), local & organic.
Fortunately the sublimely delicious styling & photography by Karen Mordechai really does make this blog an absolute treat, even if you're still wishing you could climb through the screen & be there...

A bar for your signature wedding cocktail?

A yummy buffet?

A scrumptious after dinner cheese table? Mmm cheese....

Homemade roasted beetroot chip snacks?

Please please please, someone in Brooklyn go & then describe it all to me in even more minute detail?
Please???

#137 Dreamy Wedding w/ Bottle Place 'Cards'

The first time I saw this photo my heart skipped a beat.
I actually have it saved to my laptop, every now & then I have a peek just to put some extra lovely in my day.
It's the little things right?!

It's actually THE most awesome escort card set up. Isn't it such an incredibly stunning idea?!

It's not just the escort cards though, the whole wedding of S+D via Duet Weddings, with photography by Max Wanger, is just delicious. It is so much of what I wanted, outdoors, rustic, intimate & gorgeous...

Don't you wish you were there?

#117 Dresses For Flower Girls

These dresses from The Little Dress Making Company would be so sweet for flower girls.

My favourite is definitely the grey, I think it's adorable. I can also see that the white & pink (or coconut ice as it is named) would be quite a popular choice given how many people choose pink as a highlight colour.

I know they are perhaps a more informal choice however I think that the best flower girl dresses are those that while fitting in with the style &/or colour scheme of the wedding, still make the girls look like children as opposed to children dressed as adults?

This style is called 'Shirley' & are available in sizes one to nine, they are made from 55% linen & 45% cotton, except for the red option which is pure cotton.
The company is based in Melbourne, I feel it's always icing on the cake to be able to support small businesses.

#115 Groomsmen Ideas

As I have mentioned before, I think groomsmen gifts can be a bit of a puzzle.
I'm not very keen on all the alcohol focused options, & there are just so many kitschy alternatives.
(What?! Wedding related kitsch!?)

I came across these the other day via love and lace blog, which is an excellent read if you have some spare relax with a cuppa time... or in between work/assignments... or maybe you need an excuse to procrastinate?
Annnyway, I think this is a great idea & these sets from Orange Fuzz on Etsy are wonderfully executed.

Pictured are a basic & an eco friendly set, both with shaving soap made from rhassoul clay & Sierra Nevada Stout Beer & lots of other yummy stuff!

My favourite part of these however, is without a doubt the cases. Each set comes in an up-cycled wooden cigar box. Uhh can anyone say genius? Loves it.

Bonus fun fact is that the price is nice too so they would also be a lovely alternative gift to socks & jocks on any occasion, heaven knows they can be tricky to buy for these men folk!

#113 Place 'Cards'

I just love the contrast of these smooth pebbles & the crisp lines of the engraving. They seem like one of those things that are beautiful to look at but would be even lovelier to hold?
They would add a really gorgeous & understated aesthetic to a neutral colour scheme.
I would have loved them as a place card alternative!
I also think they would work really well as place cards for a wedding in the two birds theme that is so popular at the moment, perhaps even cradled in one of these nests?
